Instruction Support Staff and Paraprofessional Biographies
Sabetha Elementary School is fortunate to have several people working alongside the classroom teachers. Instructional Support Staff (ISS) duties include providing instruction to students as part of the Multi-Tiered System of Supports program the building has in place to provide differentiated levels of instruction for students for part of their math and reading instruction. Paraprofessional teachers (Paras) collaborate with families and teachers to provide academic, behavioral, and physical support to students.

Penn Bachelor, ISS Miss Bachelor has been working at SES since 2023. She is part of the Instructional Support Staff and has simultaneously completed her Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education through the University of Phoenix, including completing her student teaching in Mrs. Werner's 2nd Grade classroom at SES. Miss Bachelor currently lives in Sabetha and is a small town girl at heart! She enjoys lots of hobbies, including reading, baking, piano, cello, working out, walking her dog Clover, spending time with her family, and is an active member of First Lutheran Church. |

Lisa Baumgartner, ISS Mrs. Baumgartner has been working at SES as a part of the Instructional Support Staff team since 2013. Prior to coming to USD 113, Mrs. Baumgartner taught elementary school at B and B. She grew up in Marysville and graduated from Marysville High School. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from Kansas State University. She later earned her teaching endorsement from Peru State College. Mrs. Baumgartner currently lives in Sabetha with her husband, Dennis. They have two grown daughters, Katelyn and Taylor and a granddaughter Nova. She enjoys spending time with her family, dehydrating excess produce, doing Zumba, and everything Disney. |

Ann Kess, ISS Mrs. Kess has been working at SES as Instructional Support Staff since 2016. From 2000-2015 she held the same job in the Chandler Unified School Dist. in Arizona. Mrs. Kess grew up in Morrill and graduated from Sabetha High School. Mrs. Kess now resides in Sabetha and works for USD 113 and Lakeside Terrace as a med aide. Visiting kids, grandkids, and great grandkids in Arizona is a favorite thing to do in the summer. |

Whitney Davis, ISS Mrs. Davis began working as part of the Instructional Support Staff group at Sabetha Elementary School in 2023. She has truly enjoyed being part of the school setting and getting to know so many of the kids! Originally from Sabetha herself, Mrs. Davis graduated from Sabetha High School and went on to earn a BSN from Baker University. After working for a couple of years as an RN in Emporia, she and her husband Andrew moved back to Sabetha when they started having children, at which time she was a stay at home mom for 10 years. Mrs. Davis now spends most of her time, when not at school, supporting her four children, Sutton, Keston, Sloane, and Lucca, in their various activities. |

Rita Menold, ISS Mrs. Menold began working at Sabetha Elementary School in August 2016. She is a part of the Instructional Support Staff and loves working with students, and watching them grow and learn. Mrs. Menold and her husband, Trent, live on a farm north of Sabetha. They have four children - Braden & his wife Riley, Taylor & her husband Landon, Cole, and Kami. In her spare time, she enjoys baking, spending time outdoors, and cherishing each moment with her family. |

Stephanie Plattner, ISS Ms. Plattner graduated from Bern High School, Highland Community College and Emporia State University with a Bachelor's of Science in Art Education. She worked at NFDC for 3 years, with the preschool, elementary and art programs. She earned a Child Development Associate certificate, ages 0-5, through HCC while working there. She has also worked for Best Life, formerly NCTC, and has substituted in the district. She has been an ISS para since October 2021. She volunteers for Childrens Church on weekends. She enjoys farm life, baking pies, gardening and a good James Herriot book. |

Virginia Russell, Para Ms. Russell has been working at SES as a Special Ed para since 2023. Prior to coming to SES she worked 22 years at NCTC. She grew up in Sabetha and graduated from SHS. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from Emporia State University. Ms. Russell owned/operated Buzz Cafe & Oxen House for several years before she had her twins Chad and Abigail. |

Rhoda Cox, Para Mrs. Cox has been working in the special education department as a para since 2008. Rhoda graduated from Sabetha High School and received her Associates degree from Highland Community College. She resides in Sabetha with her husband, Alan. They have been blessed with six children (Emily Ruby, Trenton Cox, Corbin Cox, Keegan Cox, Braeden Cox, and Marissa Cox), and 8 grandchildren. In her spare time, Rhoda enjoys flower gardening, watching movies, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. |
