“Music provides students with the opportunity to express themselves, develop confidence, and to connect with people in a beautiful way”
It is my pleasure to have been given the opportunity to join the Axtell Eagle school community! My husband Mitch and I have lived in Seneca for thirteen years and have really enjoyed living in Kansas. Despite being Huskers in a Wildcat and Jay Hawk world, we have felt welcome and at home here! Mitch and I have three grown children, nine grandchildren and are very blessed that they all live fairly close to us which allows us to see them often. I have been an educator for twenty five years. Fourteen of those years were spent teaching music, and for the last eleven years I served as the PK-12 principal at HTRS in Humboldt Nebraska. While raising our family in Johnson Nebraska, I received my bachelor’s degree in vocal and instrumental music from Peru State college in 1998. My first teaching position in 1998 was as the K-12 music educator in Table Rock Nebraska. In 1999 I accepted a teaching position in Humboldt. Through the unification and consolidation of Table Rock-Steinauer and Humboldt schools, I was then able to teach at both schools as they became HTRS. In 2003, I was offered a position at Johnson Brock which allowed me to be closer to home. In 2005 I completed my master’s degree in administration from the University of Nebraska at Kearney. In 2008 Mitch was offered a position with Community National Bank in Seneca. I then returned to the HTRS district to be closer to Seneca and we made Kansas our home. I am thrilled to be returning to the music classroom, and feel like I have come full circle in being provided the opportunity to share my JOY for music with others. Go Eagles! |
