Mrs. Mathewson grew up on a farm where her family raises livestock and crops and she graduated from Wetmore Academic Center. Amy went to college at Emporia State University where she graduated with an Elementary Education degree in 2011. Then, she taught third grade for one year in Topeka. Her husband’s job brought them to Oskaloosa, Iowa, where she taught 4th grade for 2 years. Her family got an opportunity to move back to Kansas and they settled in Axtell. Amy was a paraprofessional at Nemaha Central Elementary and Middle School for 1 year, where she taught guided reading for Kindergarten through 5th grades. Mrs. Mathewson has been teaching 5th grade at Axtell Public Schools since 2015. She will complete her Masters degree as an Instructional Specialist in 2018. Amy and her husband, Ryan, have two daughters named Macy and Ellie. She enjoys gardening, baking, and spending time with her family. |
